Vermont
French-Canadian
Genealogical Society

The Vermont French-Canadian Genealogical Society was founded in 1996, and is dedicated to research in French-Canadian ancestry. Our library is located at the St. John's Club on 9 Central Ave. in Burlington, Vermont. Hours are posted further down the web page. Projects planned include compiling repertoires from the Church records of local parishes and collecting local obituaries. Our Journal, LINKS is published in the Spring and Fall. We anticipate expanding upon our current home page with additional links to other French-Canadian resources as we find them, and adding some member lineages. To join VTFCGS, please fill out a membership application and mail the application and fee to the address listed on the application form.

Member Survey

Attention Vtfcgs Members!! We are trying to keep up with our members' research interests and e-mail addresses. If you are a current member and have not filled out the survey, or have added some new research interests, please fill out our member survey. Thanks!

Queries

We accept requests for research on French-Canadian surnames. However, we currently have only a small core of volunteer researchers, and we process our member requests first. Others are done in the order that they are received, and may take some time to process.

Sample Articles from LINKS

We have been receiving lots of e-mail in regards to articles that have been published in LINKS. In response, we will be making some articles available for viewing online, from time to time. Please enjoy Francis Leclair, by Jean de Marigny, as well as the Audet Ancestral Lines submitted by Jean-Paul H. Moreau.

Also, we have back issues of LINKS available for sale. You can mail a check for $6.00 per copy to the following address. Please be sure to mention which issue(s) you would like.

  • Check out our HOT links! We have been adding to the list as we find any new sources for French-Canadian research. These are all great links! Please try them out!!! Many of them have additional links to more resources. If you have a French-Canadian ancestor that may have been a direct descendant of a King's Daughter or a soldier of the Carignan Regiment (or if you have an interest in either), please consider checking out the link to La Société des Filles du Roi et Soldats du Carignan in our Favorite Links section!

The Parchemin database is an index of 30,000 notarial deeds from 1635 to 1800, with 15,000 different surnames. Enter a surname to search the database! We also have a link to "Genealogy Links", a large collection of French-Canadian and other Genealogical links, complete with a serenade for those who like music while they peruse!

The Hemmingford, Quebec Cemetery Records consists of a database of over 6,000 records from 20 area cemeteries. The database may be linked to, but not copied!!
